Our Events

The Society publishes an annual scientific journal, we organise four field days, two public lectures, conferences and an international study tour each year.

The Society has an active annual communications programme which comprises:

  • Conferences – A conference addressing a topical forestry theme is held annually, often in conjunction with other organisations.
  • Public Lectures –  The Augustine Henry and the Sean McBride lectures are held annually which deal with a wide range of issues concerning trees and forests and their interaction with society and the environment.
  • Field days – At least four field days are held in various locations throughout the country which provide participants the opportunity to view and discuss various aspects of forest management.
  • Study tours – An annual study tour is organised for members which is usually held in venues overseas. Past tours have included visits to forests in Europe, USA, Canada, South Africa.
